# Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis and related species) [^1]
Parts used: Primarily flowers, but also leaves.
Chamomile is rich in [[💡 Azulene]] and a good source of [[💡 Tryptophan]]. Its main active component, [[💡 Apigenin]], can be found as a [[🛠Supplements|supplement]].
It has lasting effects when used over time and blends well with other [[Nervine Herbs]]. It's safe even for infants and children.

## Using Chamomile

### Chamomile [[💡 Tea]]
Pour 1 quart of boiling water over 1 OZ of [[🌿 Chamomile|🌿 Chamomile]] flowers.
Cover and steep for 10-20 minutes. Drink 3-4 cups either daily or as needed.
Chamomile is sweet-tasting with slightly bitter aftertones. The longer it steeps, the more bitter it becomes, which is ideal if its being used to aid digestion.
