# Feverfew (Chrysanthemum Parthenium; Tanacetum Parthenium) [^1]
Parts used: leaves and flowers
Feverfew is most effective when taken for 3-4 weeks or longer. It will help alleviate [[Migraines]], but it's better at preventing them for up to three months. Its active component will be destroyed if exposed to high heat. [[๐ก Tinctures]] made from the fresh plant seem to be more effective than when made from the dried herb. If one isn't effective, try a different brand or make your own. It's easy to grow.
> [!Warning]
> Most experience no side effects, but Feverfew is used to promote menstruation, so it may stimulate the menstrual cycle and / or promote cramping, heavy bleeding, and painful menstruation. It is *not* recommended for pregnant women or people on anticoagulants. Take Feverfew in cycles, like 5 days on and 2 days off, or 3 weeks on and 1 week off.
