###### Notice & Listen
The art of noticing is a slow and subtle one. It isn't a tracking down or a seeking out, and it isn't shining a spotlight on something. It's more of a glance, a settling into, like looking up at the night sky without expectation of what we might see and allowing it to sink in. Awareness practices support this step.
What, or who, is here?
The #1 skill to train is [[🔑 Learn to differentiate between parts and Self and to unblend|🔑 noticing trailheads and Parts]] – who is here and responding to them. Learning this, just this on its own, can be life-changing. It is the practice of careful listening and deep curiosity, of letting ambition and desire go so that we might see what’s actually happening inside. By being open and being with, we can have revelatory self-teaching experiences.
Its foundation is [[🕯️ Mindfulness]] and there are many ways to hone it.
- Learning to recognize [[💡 Parts|Parts]] either in the moment or in retrospect and to help them [[🕯️ Unblending|unblend]].
- Moment-to-moment mindful awareness of what’s going on inside our bodies and minds and recognizing them as trailheads or parts.
- Rather than getting caught up in thoughts and emotions, we’re able to take a step back and be with them.
This doesn’t mean we have to approach every thought or feeling we have, it just gives us choice. And the more we notice our [[💡 Parts|Part]], the more they notice us – as [[💡 Presence|Presence]].
