# Freeze
To be "scared stiff."

- Fainting, paralysis
- Immobilization
- Unable to actively defend ourself

We tend to struggle to allow these reactions to complete because we rationalize our way out of them. Every reason is [[💡 Fear]]-based:
- [[💡 Shame]] about not using [[🛡️ Fight]] or [[🛡️ Flight]] instead.
- When the energy expresses itself as involuntary shaking, we get afraid of being out of control and stop it.
- Our anger scares us into thinking we'll hurt someone or ourself.
- We get scared because the Freeze response feels like death, so we [[🛡️ Avoiding|Avoid]] allowing it to happen.
