When most westerners talk about yoga, they are almost always referring to Asana Practice (Hatha yoga). Asanas are a mind-body practice which invites us to reconnect with our body through movement. We bring mindful awareness to our movements and postures and coordinate them with our breath.
This practice performs better than exercise when it comes to clinical illnesses, and we don't yet know why.[^1]
