And while there is a spark of enjoyment that comes with getting a new thing, it never lasts and often will add more stress than it relieves. Things get damaged, break, or stop working. We have to take care of it. And, as we buy more and more, our space becomes increasingly cluttered. If buying things led to lasting happiness, we’d be thrilled every time we looked at all the things we used to *really* want but have just become our stuff. [[🔑 Our mind is directly influenced by our surroundings]]. A simplified and decluttered living space may help us experience a decluttered mind. Reassess our [[⭐ Values]] and consider what actually provides a lasting sense of well-being. It’s not about getting rid of everything and never buying anything, but clearing the clutter and unnecessary consumption so we can focus on what’s actually important — similarly to the way [[🔑 Burdens pollute our system and cut us off from ourselves]], a cluttered living space can do the same thing. Just as we can [[🔑 Liberate Parts from the roles they’ve been forced into, so they can be who they’re meant to be]], we can free up our homes and free up both physical space and inner resources so we can do what we care about.
