###### π As parts start to trust the process, healing speeds up
[[βοΈ Internal Family Systems|IFS]] is a process of self-discovery and, ultimately, self-love. The [[βοΈ Internal Family Systems#The IFS Process|slow, gradual process of getting to know and healing our parts]] can be painful, but as we heal some of our [[π‘ Parts|Parts]], others we couldnβt access before will reveal themselves and ask us to help them too. If we can treat them with [[βοΈ Patience]] and tender [[βοΈ Compassion]], they will eventually heal. Our parts are no longer alone, and with time, perhaps after weβve healed some of them, they will begin to trust [[π‘ Presence]], look to us for [[π‘ Self-Leadership|leadership]],[^1] and join our cause. Our [[π‘ Window of Tolerance|Window of Tolerance]] will expand.
As parts begin to trust [[π‘ The IFS Process]], things that used to take five sessions might suddenly take one.[^2] As we develop a different our relationships with our parts, [[π‘ Protector Parts|Protectors]] begin to soften much more quickly and we can more safely approach our [[π‘ Exiles|exiles]]. It can sometimes take a long time to create this kind of internal safety[^3] β [[π Go at your pace|Go at your partsβ pace]].
By helping or affecting one part, we also have an impact on potentially many others. We may suddenly find ourselves able to tend to wounds which were once too tender to touch as our inner-ecosystem becomes less reactive. Meanwhile, we at the same time become more adept at holding space for them.
