##### π Our parts set the pace
Every step in [[βοΈ Internal Family Systems|IFS]] is taken with permission from all parts involved. Each of our [[π‘ Parts|Parts]] has their own individual tempo. In [[βοΈ Internal Family Systems|IFS]] we [[π―οΈ Titration|βοΈ titrate]] by staying [[π―οΈ Unblending|unblended]] and going at our parts' pace [[π Presence has no agenda|π without an agenda]].
Go where it feels safe. [[π Progress accumulates]], and by helping less reactive parts, others start to trust us. [[π As Parts start to trust the process, healing speeds up]]. If we start to feel some kind of physical stress, check in and see if there are parts who need a break or to back off of something β theyβll tell us if we have the presence of mind to stop and listen. Step away and do some [[βοΈ Self-Care]].
- Work on your own timeline.
- Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
- Consistency beats intensity β every time.
- [[π Listen to your body]]
- [[π Presence does not bypass Protectors]]
###### Exiles
[[π‘ Exiles]] have had very little agency in their lives. They've been urged, rushed, bossed around, and rejected. When we work with them, we give them all the time, assurance, and reassurance they need.
The time it takes to heal them depends on the level of trauma. The [[π‘ Witnessing]] and [[π‘ Unburdening]] steps are finished only when they say itβs finished.[^2]
