###### 🔑 Learning requires effort
Contrary to popular belief, learning is better when the mind has to work at it. Much like how we have to lift a heavy thing to build muscle, the greater the effort, provided you succeed, the stronger the memory becomes. Effortful [[🦮 How to Study|Retrieval Practice]] not only makes [[💡 Memory|memories]] more durable, but produces knowledge that can be retrieved more readily, in more varied settings, and applied to a wider vanriety of problems in the long-term. Meanwhile [[🔑 Highlighting, rereading, and cramming are almost useless]].
This is not to say that learning should be [[💡 Stress|stressful]]. [[Stress makes learning impossible]].
