###### π Most online communities are pseudo-communities
Internet marketing and [[Parasocial Relationships]] have led us to investing huge amounts of time in pseudo-communities.
The more we use [[Social Media]], the more isolated we feel. The more isolated we feel, the more we want to use it. The internet may have made the world much smaller, but itβs essentially a neighborhood of strangers where we know only the most superficial facts about each other. Itβs a new kind of reality television driven by [[π‘ Protector Parts|Protectors]].
Most internet "communities" are in reality collective audiences or fandoms β groups of people connecting with or commenting on something together with only superficial relationships among themselves. The internet has turned much of the planet into neighborhood of strangers β we're all here, but nobody knows each other. Social media made all of us highly accessible, yet we still feel alienated because these too are pseudo-communities.
Our social media accounts are a kind of show or highlight real showing us in our "best light."
We confuse mutual interests with real connection.
