##### 🔑 Progress accumulates
We might have heard that recovery is a life-long process. I don’t know if that’s true, but I can say that regardless of whether it is true, there is definitely a point when the process is no longer a burden, and the small successes compound over time — [[🔑 Small choices are big]].
If you’ve ever cleaned a filthy room you know things tend to look worse before they look better, but the worsening is part of the bettering. We can [[🔑 Go at your pace|go at our Parts’ pace]], slowly and gently. In the beginning it may feel like trying to push through stone, but with time it begins to feel more like tending a garden, continual self-discovery. There is a universe in you.
All we need is one snowflake and even the tiniest amount of forward momentum. Small wins snowball into a [[💡 Virtuous Cycle]]. We revisit and re-learn the same lessons over and over, different facets of the jewel.
If we have a million wounds, we have a million opportunities to heal. Don't concern yourself with the journey. Look only at the short stretch of the path in front of you and take one small step at a time — whether that's day-by-day, hour-by-hour, or minute-by-minute. Keep it simple. So long as we move in the direction we're called to, one day at a time, progress is inevitable. It’s sometimes helpful to ask myself: What's the next right thing?
It can also be so subtle that we don't even notice it. Look back every now and then, you may be surprised.
