# Hands Over Eyes

Borrowed from the [[Somatic Psychotherapy Toolbox]], this can ease tension, lower [[💡 Stress]], and find peace when we're [[💡 Emotional Dysregulation|Dysregulated]]. It's also easy and can be done almost anywhere.
## The Practice
1. It's best to sit down.
2. Try to. rest your elbows on a desk, table, or your knees.
3. Gently cup your palms over your eyes.
4. Feel where your palms meet your eyes.
5. Pay attention to the darkness and sensations of pressure.
6. Take a few slow, deep belly breaths.
7. Gently move lower your hands and note how you feel. Are there any changes in your eyes or perception? Did it help to take a break from visual stimulation?
