Vacations increase happiness, improve relationships, decrease burnout, increase creativity and productivity, increases chance of getting a raise. Length matters less than how relaxed we are when we return.
1. Plan one
- Some benefits come from planning one. Trip it, flexible schedule, lists.
2. Budget
1. Make a list of possible expenses and how to pay for them. Add 25% to be safe.
3. Manage stimulation levels
4. Plan for stuff to go wrong
- Symptoms are worse outside of our normal routines
5. Abandon To-Dos
- Get everything done before the trip
- Write down anything you have to do later that you might forge
6. Communicate Expectations
7. Take a Recovery Day
