🔼: [[🕯️ Pendulation]]
#### Pendulation Anchor
A Pendulation Anchor is a place in or our [[⭐️ Body]] which feels pleasant or neutral when focused on. It can be something as broad as the feeling of stability in our legs or as specific as the tip of our nose. Pendulation Anchors can shift day-to-day, moment-to-moment. They can also be used any time in everyday life. We can establish an Anchor at the start of every day and at the beginning of important conversations or events to help us through distressing moments.
###### Establishing a Pendulation Anchor
For some of us, finding a safe place in our [[⭐️ Body]] is difficult to the point of stress, in which case we can choose something external. (See: [[🛠 Anchors]]) If we can't establish an External Anchor, it may be helpful to get somewhere we feel safer, like a [[🛠 Sacred Space]]. If that isn't possible, see: [[🦮 How to Get Out of a Low-Nurturance Environment]].
1. Take a few [[💨 Elongated Exhalation]]s and notice your surroundings. Find a place in your [[⭐️ Body]] that brings a sense of groundedness, support, and safety in this moment. Your feet on the floor, your back against the chair, whatever comes naturally.
2. Take a few breathes and feel this sense of grounded support and safety.
3. Where do you feel this most strongly in your body?
4. What do you sense right there in that location?
5. Take a few breathes and feel it and notice how it helps you feel supported and safe. This is your anchor, and you can return to it whenever you need it.
