>When we give ourselves the chance to let go of our tension, the body's natural capacity to heal itself can begin to work.
>— Tich Nhat Hanh
TREs engage the Psoas Muscle to deliberately cause the body to tremor and release both [[🛡️ Emotional Armoring|physical]] and emotional tension. TREs is not a [[💡 Therapy|Therapy]], it will not resolve our trauma. However, they are a therapeutic tool in that they help us metabolize physical the [[💡 Stress|stress]] stored in our [[⭐️ Body]].
> [!WARNING] Stay Safe
> - David Berceli warns against using TRE without the guidance of a certified practitioner.
> - Difficult emotions can arise while doing TRE, and it’s possible to do too much even accidentally. Five minutes is plenty for a beginner. If big emotions arise while doing TRE, just extend your legs to stop the practice and rest, leaning into [[🕯️ Self-Regulation]] if needed.
> - Our bodies also become more sensitive for a while after. This is normal and okay.
