There are few things that will help us [[🕯️ Grounding|🕯️ Ground]] as quickly as a cold shower.
###### Cold Shower
Don’t just turn the cold water on and jump in, we’ll end up gasping for breath from the shock and that isn’t constructive.
First Variation
- Turn on the cold water, and start taking some comfortable, even [[💨 Belly Breath]]s.
- While maintaining your breathing, *slowly*, bit by bit, put an arm or leg in the water. If you can’t keep your breath even and calm, you’re going too fast.
- Take your time, and eventually you’ll likely be able to put your entire arm or leg into the water and maintain your breathing. Stay connected to your breath, and repeat with your other limbs before going to your central body and then up to your head (or whatever order feels best to you).
Second Variation
- Take a shower as normal, with whatever water temperature you like. Switch to cold near the middle of it for 10-30 seconds, then switch back to warm before finishing.
Third Variation
- Take a shower as normal, switching from warm to cold water throughout. Finish warm or cold.
Fourth Variation
- Regardless of how you start your shower, finish cold. The effort it takes your body to warm itself up again will also build resilience.
